RC, the Honda guy

I've made a new friend, RC. You see, last weekend I had Thursday night to myself. Beau had gone to Lubbock with Kevin and my parents to the Big 12 track meet. I happened to be driving by the Honda dealership and noticed a white Honda Odyssey...yes, I have my eye on a MINI-VAN. My sisters both drive/drove Honda mini-vans and I swore I'd never drive one. Oh well.

Anyway, suprisingly it was (sort of) in our price range so my new friend, RC encouraged me to take a test drive. I told him, "We have this much cash and my trade-in for this Honda". I thought he might laugh at the amount I told him, but he said "I bet we can come close." Uh huh, I thought!

Well, to make a long story short, he actually let me drive the van to Lubbock and have it ALL weekend. Kevin liked it but we were going to stick to our guns on what we would pay. After all, we were not really looking...I just happened to be driving by the Honda dealership!

We've had fun with the car salesman seeing how many times he'll call me on my cell phone...I think we are up to 10 or 11! Here is how the conversation goes:
Him: How much do you want to pay a month?
Us: Nothing. We will pay this much cash and that trade-in for that white Honda Odyssey.
Him: Let me check with my manager. (10 minutes later) We can do this and this...
Us: We will pay this much cash and that trade-in for that white Honda Odyssey.
Him: We can hold a check for 30 days so you can round up some more money...
Us: We will pay this much cash and that trade-in for that white Honda Odyssey.
Him: Well, we'll give you this much for your trade-in if you can pay this...
Us: We will pay this much cash and that trade-in for that white Honda Odyssey.
Him: Let me check with my manager... Here is a new offer and we can't go any lower.

Us: We will pay this much cash and that trade-in for that white Honda Odyssey.

Him: Let me check one more time... We can't do that. We have an older van coming in on Friday if you want to wait and look at that.
Us: OK, Bye.
30 minutes later...my cell phone rings.
Him: Ok, we'll take that much cash and your trade-in for the white Honda Odyssey.
Us: :)

This is Beau doing what he loves best at this point in his life...SOCCER. He loves everything about it...the uniform, practice, learning his memory verses, cheering for teammates, and KICKING that ball!

Forget the Swine Flu, we have Cabin Fever!

Beau's eyes/allergies have been bothering him for about 2 weeks. This happens this time every year but has been easily solved with morning doses of Claritin. Well, recently that had not been working. So I tried Zyrtec...nothing. Benadryl seemed to help the most, but his eyes (at certain times) were so puffy and red I wanted to cry! It bothered him, but did NOT slow him down.
Monday a week ago I was going to take him to the doctor, but our doctor was not in. The nurse called us in some ($86) eye drops that seemed to soothe his eyes, but did not make them less puffy or red. One of my nurse friends thought he had pink eye (that's how red they were).
Well, we went to Houston for a scrapbooking convention last weekend and his eyes/allergies cleared up almost completely. I was so relieved... until the second we stepped foot back in Abilene...puffy and red again! Darn pecan trees!
I made another appointment to see the doctor and even he said "Whoa" when he first took a look at Beau. Yes, I accept the "bad mother" award. I should have taken him in sooner, but it kept getting better and then worse, better and then worse.
ANYWAY, Dr. Wiley said he needed to stay INSIDE for several days and gave us some Allegra, Singulair, and another prescription eye drop (these, not so pricey!) Anyone who knows Beau knows (aside from Wii time) he would be outside all day every day, so he was not so happy with the "stay inside" order!
So sweet Kevin rented some movies and Wii games for Beau and he has been a really good sport about the whole thing - even holding his own eyes open for drops 3 times a day!
He even told me "I will be brave" if he had to get a shot (which he didn't)!
Well, the very next morning his eyes were SO much better and have continued to get clearer and better...just about back to normal. He got to play soccer this morning and he had so much fun (even in the drizzle and mist!) just being outside!
Our next step will probably be to see an allergist.
This week, we plan to be outside as much as his little eyes will let us!
