My hobby...

We love the Balloon Festival! Our little tradition is to wake up on Sunday morning and see the last "lift off" of the festival at 7:30am. Beau has always enjoyed it in the past, but this was his favorite. The weather was perfect this morning and the balloons are just magnificent!

Weekend with my Family!

We had a fun and busy weekend! Kevin had Friday off, so we headed to Decatur for their Homecoming with my Mom. Dad had a game Friday night, so he couldn't come this time. My cousins' are on Varsity this year. Nathan (#62) is a Junior Center and Jonathan is a Sophomore Nosetackle. Beau has so much fun with the boys. My nephew, Cal, is in the white jersey with Beau. I won't mention the outcome of the game! :(

We spent the night in Decatur at my Aunt's house and then headed to Arlington to see my nieces play soccer. They live in Waco, but play Select Soccer in Arlington every Saturday. They tied the 1st game and won the 2nd game. Bailey scored in both games, and Audrey scored in the 2nd game. I don't know much about soccer, but I know these girls are GOOD! Beau and Ava Grace had a good time "watching" in their big chairs. Poor Ava Grace just puts up with Beau...sometimes he can be so sweet to her, but he really gets a kick out of aggravating sweet Ava!

Audrey (5th grade), Bailey (6th grade) and Beau. Beau even wore his soccer cleats to the game. And, of course, he was happy because we got to eat at Chick-fil-A between games. My oldest sister's (Melinda) family also met us in Arlington. They have just moved to Ranger from Arlington, so the girls (Abby 5th grade, Claire 8th grade, and Emily freshman at Baylor) got to see some of their friends, too!
It is always fun when we all get together!!!

Tuesdays with Beau...

Beau and I like to go to the Zoo on Tuesday mornings because it is Feeding Day in the Snake House. A little graphic, a little gross (picture snakes eating frozen mice) but that's what little boys like, I suppose!
Each time we go, Kevin gives Beau an animal to learn more about. We were supposed to "research" the hyenas this morning, but they were not out, so we called an audible and learned about the Zebras. Did you know that no two Zebras have the same stripe pattern? Their stripes are as unique as a fingerprint.




Now, look at my sweet boy...am I really supposed to say "Don't pick the flowers"?

God's perfect timing...

I've got to tell you the sweetest story! If you don't know my friends, Darrell and Krista, you need to read their blog (click on their blog over on the right...)
I will try to make this short. It actually starts with a sweet friendship between my friend, Rebekah and me. We became friends over a year ago when they were trying to start a family and nothing was working. Fast forward several months...they just adopted a beautiful baby boy from Christian Homes (our agency as well) named Collin. While they were in the hospital, of course, several family and friends visited and brought gifts, etc...
Now, witnessing all this excitement over baby Collin was a lady whose unwed daughter just had a baby 8 minutes before Collin was born. I don't know it they had thought about adoption at this point or not, but that sweet mom went to her sweet daughter's room and told her about all the happiness in the waiting room over the adoption of this other baby (Collin). Well, that family decided right then and there to place this baby for adoption and they spoke with the Christian Homes caseworker who was at the hospital for Collin's adoption.
Are you following me?
Well, since then (8-8-08), Rebekah and I have joked that since that family decided on adoption because of the happiness of Rebekah's family and friends, then Rebekah should get to choose who gets that baby (thinking of our friend Krista).
OK, now lets go back a little bit...stay with me! If you read Krista and Darrell's blog, then you know they have been waiting for over 2 years to adopt from China and decided to go ahead with a concurrent domestic adoption through Christian Homes. See where I'm going?
They had their home study completed last week on Tuesday and found out Thursday that "a birthmother" had selected them...that quick.
And, I'm sure you've guessed it. The baby God placed with them was that baby born 8 minutes before Collin!!! Baby Riley Fauvel is home today!
The Fauvels, along with the rest of us, I'm sure often wondered about God's timing and why China was taking so long, and then we get to witness a miracle like this.
God DOES know the plans He has for us! What perfect timing of the homestudy being completed, what perfect timing that that mother was out in the waiting room seeing how happy adoption was making another family she didn't even know. What perfect timing!!!
I always say that we bacame a family through the miracle of adoption, and to see my friends getting to experience that miracle is just so much fun for me!
God is good!

Can you tell me how to get...how to get to Sesame Street?

We had a fun weekend! We made a quick trip to Waco to see Cal's football game. Cal and Beau are the only boys surrounded by a bunch of girl cousins! Cal did fabulous, by the way. He scored (2) 2-point-conversions, made a couple of first downs, and played very good defense! The Mustangs won 22-0! 50 was also my dad's number...Daddy Dee to Beau and Cal.
Kevin ended up getting called and having to work all day Sunday (7am-7pm), so Beau and I decided to go see Sesame Street Live at the Civic Center. It really was fun!
Kevin's parents and brother, Kirk, are doing fine in Houston...still without electricity!!! UGH!!
Kirk is working alot and Ken and Lyn are working hard with the Apartment Ministry they are in charge of (through their church). Ken also volunteers at the Emergency Aid Coalition which, I'm sure, has been active since the Hurricane...

We start keeping Baby Collin this morning. Chris will bring him over around 9 and Rebekah said she will rush over here when she gets off at school around 3:30. This is her first day back since they adopted Baby Collin. Beau is especially excited even though Collin isn't quite big enough to play Hungry, Hungry Hippo yet!!

That's how much Beau made in about 2 hours this morning. Not bad! Our next door neighbors are having a garage sale this morning, so Beau wanted to sell Lemonade! It was a nice morning, so I caught up on my scrapbooking magazines while Beau did his thing!

Beau's First THIRD Day of "School"

This is really Beau's 3rd day of school. On his first day, my camera decides to call it quits of course! So Santa arrived early, and I got my new camera in the mail yesterday (Thanks, Houston Santa!!).
Beau's teachers are Ms. Sarah and Ms. Bitsy and he is already in love with them both. He really likes Motor Lab and story time and playing with his buddies.
Note also the backpack and lunchbox. Beau picked them out and, like just about everything around here, there is a "story" that goes along with that as well! However, tonight I am hosting Bunco, so I will have to save that story for another time...I need to finish cleaning my house before Beau comes home.
He and Kevin are going to an Anson JV football game tonight with Daddy Dee (my Dad).
I'll end with a cute "Beau" story: Keep in mind that on Tuesday we went to the Zoo and witnessed feeding time in the Snake house which included frozed mice and hungry snakes (gross). Beau loved it and so we made friends with the ZooKeeper and he gave Beau a little tour and told him all about the snakes. SO, last night before going to church, we talked about what he might be talking about in Mission Friends. In order to get stickers, I told him to make sure he raised his hand if he knew the answers to any of Ms. Pam's questions about what he learned last week. Beau thought a minute and then asked, "Well, is she going to ask me about snakes?" I love being a his Mommy!

Me and My Boys!

Well, I am new to this whole "blog" idea. I wasn't entirely sure how to use it. So I decided to use it to tell on my two boys! I have all the material I need just living with the two most amazing ornory, difficult, brilliant, imaginative, loving, funny, bull headed boys on the planet. One is 3 and one is 39! My three year old, Beau is our biggest blessing as we became a family through the miracle of adoption. He is funny, too! Already he knows how to work a room and commands the center of attention brilliantly. My husband, Kevin is amazing. He works harder than anyone I know and every day puts Beau and I first before everything else. I tell you these things about them, because going forward I might forget the good and perfect and focus on the comical and infuriating! That makes for better entertainment, right? So check back often! I will have a story to tell each week and hopefully you will enjoy our adventures as much as I do!!
