Tex goes to school...

This week at school, Beau's class is learning about animals and pets. We have a pet turtle.
We haven't seen him in a couple of weeks - Kevin and I thought he might be gone for the winter since the weather has been cooler. Did you know turtles hibernate? (We didn't either until Tex "went away" - we thought for good - and then showed up the next Spring.) This will be his 3rd winter with us.
Anyway, he showed up on our back porch last night so we took him to school today to show Beau's friends. Beau was so proud and knew all the answers to his friends' questions. What does he eat (worms from Petsmart, watermelon, and grapes)? Where does he live (in our backyard)? What's his name (Tex)? etc. It was a fun morning for us both!

Not everyone is here today, but some of Beau's best buddies are Daniel (beside Beau in the red shirt), his twin sister Grace (in the blue dress), Ethan (in the orange striped shirt), and Jake (denim shorts on the far right). His teachers are sweet friends on mine, Laura (standing) and Sonja (holding Tex).

Young Tiger

Tonight was Beau's first class to get to wear his new gi (pronounced /gee/). We waited a couple of months to buy him one to make sure he was going to enjoy and stick with karate.
He is so proud...and we are, too. He works very hard and listens very well during each karate class. He strives to get each punch, each block, each kick, each stance JUST right. On the next testing night, he should recieve his first stripe on his belt.
This stance is called Kiba Dachi (I think)...

The Sonshine Choir

Conversation in the car on the way home:

Beau singing: "Waterfalls and Animals sing praise..."

Me: Beau, I think the name of the song is "What If All The Animals Sing Praise?"

Beau, thinking about what I said for a minute: Well I don't know why they would call it that when we sing (now singing) "Waterfalls and Animals sing praise..."!

Man, I love that kid!

Houston Children's Museum

We love this place. We go every time we're in Houston. They have expanded since the last time we were here, so we went twice!
This is the new climbing wall. Doesn't he look big?

This thing was so cool. It's about 4 stories of these "pods/discs" that Beau and Kevin climbed all the way to the top...sort of like a maze.

And this was my favorite. It's a "digital floor" with games on it. I think he was playing dodgeball where a spot on the floor would move around and if it touched your foot, you were out. You can see he took this very seriously...I love this picture!

Go Red Raiders!

Cheering on those Red Raiders...

...for as long as he could. He fell asleep during the 3rd quarter and it was already 11:15pm. It was a LONG night (especially since Tech did not win!) :(
