Team Chip

I started working for Junior Achievement this summer and soon found out that four of my best volunteers come from Team Chip Tae Kwon Do Center, including Chip himself. Mr. Ben (below) is one of them. Beau had been taking Karate at the Y and enjoyed it fairly well, but after seeing the Team Chip demo team and meeting Chip and Ben, he really wanted to start taking classes at Team Chip.
So, that's what he got for Christmas. I figured we might go once or twice a week (like we did at the Y), but Beau wants to go every time a Lil' Dragon class is offered (5 days a week), so we do!
We love it there. Not only do they learn the basics of TKD, they are expected to be courteous, respectful, and to be the best leader they can be! In just a couple of weeks that we have been going, Beau has earned 4 stripes on his belt and will test for his yellow striper belt in a couple of weeks.

PK Lake - Thanksgiving 2010

We go to Possum Kingdom Lake every Christmas or Thanksgiving with my mom's side of the family. It is so nice and peaceful! We play games, ride horses, do archery, shoot 22's, hike, eat, and sit around the fire every night. This is one of Beau's favorite things.

We take a barge ride over the Lake and hike up to Hell's Gate. That's where this picture is taken with my nieces and nephew.

This is our annual tree picture in front of the cabin with Beau and his cousins (my sisters' kids).

Do you see my little monkey at the top of this 15 foot gazebo? My cousin helped him up there, to my dismay (but I did have to get a picture!)

What we've been up to...

We have had a wonderful start to the school year. Beau LOVES Kindergarten and the new activities at church (Choir, Mission Friends, AWANAs, etc). This is Austin Elementary's first Skate Night. With Beau not really knowing how to skate, we thought we would go for a few minutes and then go home. After a couple of times around the rink with me (and tightening up his wheels a little bit), he was off and on his own. He had a BLAST. We ended up staying the whole time! He even got out in the middle for races!
All the kids "run the track" every week in PE during "Wellness Wednesday". Beau looks forward to this every week and ran 7 laps last week...almost 2 miles! He will earn his 5 Mile Ribbon this week!

This is Beau's new bunk bed. Their unit in school this week was "Bears". They got to take a lunch and a bear on Friday for their Teddy Beau Picnic. He has a wonderful teacher and is loving his class! They do fun stuff like this all the time.

And, of course, we are always busy with soccer. We are so glad we joined Big County and are on the Sidekicks team. Kevin was asked to be the assistant coach and enjoys that, too. Beau scored 5 goals the first game and 2 the next game. He has several good buddies on his team and 2 of them are in his K class, too!
We are staying busy with school, church, my new job, and soccer!

Kindergarten...First Day!

First Day of School. Can you tell he's excited?

Daniel, Beau, and Grace. Daniel is in Beau's class.

Micah, Beau, and Noah. The Carr boys.

Beau's desk in Mrs. Brown's class. He went in, put his backpack in his locker, found his nametag, sat down, and was ready to go!
